Special Note From Chris Chesley

This Sunday  At Faith . . . (AM)

This Sunday I will begin a new four part series from the book of Micah.  As I am writing this the power is out at my house, once again I am reminded of how much I depend on power and how much I miss it when it is gone.  Micah was a powerful prophet among a powerless people, we can learn much from him about the subject of power.  The priests of Micah's day thought the power was there own ability when in reality there is no power apart from God.  This Sunday we are looking at:

Micah 3:8 (NKJV)
But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the LORD, And of justice and might, To declare to Jacob his transgression And to Israel his sin.

All true power comes from God, Jesus told Pilate he could have no power if it had not been given to him by God.

Our core principle is GREAT POWER BRINGS GREAT RESPONSIBILITY.
What are you doing with the power God has given to you?  Power in your family, at work and in your neighborhood are all gifts from God.

  Sunday night

This Sunday night we will be gathering around the Lord's table for the first time in 2013.  What a great way to start the New Year.

1 Corinthians 11:23-28 (NKJV)

23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;
24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.
27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

Christmas is all about family, we were so thankful we got to see all of our grandkids over the holidays

This is Johnny Fox talking to the Hobbit, no my mistake that is Jonathan Windle

It is always an exciting moment when we light the candles to remember the birth of Jesus

Mother and daughter (Angie and Rachel Kimberlin) sang for us at the candle light service

Frank Sizemore who is now pastor at Moss Run Baptist Church joined us again this year and brought "Conrad" with him

Dear FBC Church family,
On behalf of my family, I want to thank you for all you have done over the past 5 years to welcome us and make us feel loved and appreciated. Personally, I have treasured the privilege of serving you as one of your pastors more than you probably realize. Being able to preach the Word of God to you, counseling with you, or serving alongside you in various activities have been and will continue to be some of my greatest memories and experiences. I want to challenge you to genuinely seek the Lord Jesus in ALL you do. Don’t just know about Him, know Him personally, powerfully, increasingly and completely in EVERY area of your lives.
Secondly, I want to encourage and challenge you to serve Christ, this church, each other and the surrounding communities. Serving is the natural expression and result of being IN Christ. We are saved, not just for our own benefit, but also for the benefit of the world we still live in. If Christ did not mean for us to serve Him with our lives, using them as tools in His hand, we would be taken to Heaven at the moment of our salvation. Since that has not happened, it means there are purposes and plans He has for us to carry out (See Jeremiah 29:11). Besides all that, serving the Lord Jesus is really the only way to have a sense of fulfillment or lasting joy. Our lives as Christians really are for service. Don’t forget that and always be looking for new ways and opportunities to carry out service to God and others, which is always the purest expression of your genuine salvation.
I wish you all the best, and assure you that our family will continue to pray for you and will stay in the loop as much as possible in regard to your lives and ministry. I ask that you please pray for us in a consistent manner over the next couple years, as they will be crucial periods of time for our family and potential ministry. May the grace of the Lord Jesus, the power of the Spirit and the joy of the Father be with you all in every way.
Sincerely,

Chris Chesley (on behalf of Leann, Aubri and Addison)

(The above note was in last Sunday's bulletin, thought I would run it again in case you missed it, we will miss the Chesleys but they must follow the path God has laid out for them.  Please pray for them as they start their great adventure.)
