This Sunday  At Faith . . . (AM)

I will be taking another look at Haggai chapter two. (2:10-19)  The children of Israel had returned to Jerusalem 18 years earlier to rebuild the Temple, after a stirring challenge from Haggai, they began to rebuild the Temple.
As we continue in chapter two, God calls the prophet to return yet again to the people of Jerusalem to warn them.  They had now been at the work of building the temple for several months but God was concerned about their spiritual drift so He sends Haggai to warn them about the spiritual danger they were facing.  In our lives we have to watch very carefully that we don't drift into error and become out of balance.  This is what was happening to the builders of the Temple.  Why should I care?  Because God warned these builders that the way they live will have a dramatic impact on the rest of their lives.  So when I get out of balance I soon begin to see and feel the impact in my personal life.  Not only that but when I am out of balance my service becomes unacceptable to my Lord.

Our key point in this message: WHEN I LOSE MY BALANCE I LOSE MY WAY
  Sunday night (6 PM)

This week we celebrate the birth of our nation.  In recognition of that our adult choir is presenting a patriotic musical, "WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL".  Hope you can join us for this inspiring presentation of how our love for God and country impact us in very real ways.

Faith Connection 06.22.12

This Sunday  At Faith . . . (AM)

I will be taking a look at Haggai chapter two.  The children of Israel had returned to Jerusalem 18 years earlier to rebuild the Temple, after a stirring challenge from Haggai, they began to rebuild the Temple.  But it wasn't long until they began to compare the new temple with the original temple and discouragement set in, creating a desire to quit.  This Sunday we will be looking at the subject of discouragement.

There  were several elements that caused the people to get discouraged.
  • They began to look and live in the past
  • They began to compare their work with others
  • They forgot the God who had brought them back to Jerusalem
Our core principle in this message is:

DISCOURAGEMENT IS THE PRICE YOU PAY FOR FORGETTING GOD

  Sunday night (6 PM)

My son in-law Matt Walls preached last Sunday on "Be Present", it was a great message and I heard a lot of feedback from our folks which is a good thing.   There are so many distractions in our culture it is truly hard to be present for God, our families and others.

Here is our praise team in action last Sunday, how I thank God for our music ministry here at Faith.  The choir and the praise team both add so much to our services.  The choir will be presenting a patriotic musical Sunday night July 1 here at the church.

We had all of our grand kids together last week for several days, all six of them.  It was great seeing them all together, we took them to Roaring Run for the first time and they really seemed to enjoy it.  They saw their first snake in the wild.  I thank God for this opportunity to have our family with us for a few days.

 Hope to see you Sunday

Faith Connection 06.08.12

This Sunday  At Faith . . . (AM)

I will be taking a look at Haggai chapter one.  The children of Israel had returned to Jerusalem 18 years earlier to rebuild the Temple, but had made no progress.   Their main purpose in returning was to honor God.  And a key part of this plan was to rebuild the Temple.  But they had gotten off track.  They said they believed in God but they were living as Practical Atheists.

Practical Atheist = A person who says he believes in God  but lives as if He does not exist.

94 % of all Americans believe in God

How can you recognize a practical atheist?
How can you reclaim a practical atheist?

ARE YOU WHO YOU SAY YOU ARE?

  Sunday night (6 PM)

Parental Guidance required (dvd) Reggie Joiner  [Tuning In The Right Friends]

Friends determine the direction and quality of our lives.  It is important to have someone in your children's lives that will affirm what you have taught them.  Parents need to ask two questions consistently:  Is there someone in my child's life I need to dial out?  Is there someone in my child's life I need to dial in?

We have more events coming up at Faith that focus on parenting
June 17 - Father's Day - Matt Walls pastor at Southside Kathleen Baptist church in Kathleen GA will be speaking

As we sang a chorus Wednesday night in the Victory Bible Class we joined hands.  Jesus prayed for the unity of the church in John 17 and we have seen our church pull together recently to help others, I know it had to be pleasing to the Father.  Here are the words to the chorus we were singing.

You're my brother you're my sister
So take me by the hand
Together we will work until He comes
There's no foe that can defeat us
If were walking side by side
As long as there is Love
We will stand

Things were busy at church this week.   The worship center and welcome center were both painted.   One of our ac units went out and needed to be replaced.  Thank God all the work went smoothly and will be finished in time for Sunday services.

We were so thankful for the outpouring of love by our church family this week to help out the Mercer family.  Concerts, cake walks, hot dogs and snow cones were just a few of the ways that everyone pulled together to help this family.  "By this shall all men know you are my disciples if you have love one for another"--Jesus

 Hope to see you Sunday
