11.04.10

I will be starting a new series this Sunday, hope you can join us . . .

11.07.10 Endurance

11.14.10 Quitting Points

11.21.10 The Focus Factor
11.28.10 The Failure Factor

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.                                                2 Timothy 4:7 (NKJV)

Endurance

David’s past impacted his present
But David said to Saul, "Your servant used to keep his father's sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, 35 I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it.         1 Samuel 17:34-35 (NKJV)

We learn as we live
2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,        3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.                                                             James 1:2-3

David displayed endurance throughout his life
6 They have prepared a net for my steps; My soul is bowed down; They have dug a pit before me; Into the midst of it they themselves have fallen. Selah 7 My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and give praise.                                Psalm 57:6-7

With God’s help how can I develop endurance?

    •         Finish that book
    •         Finish that project
    •         Go past your normal quitting point

Trust God to develop endurance in your heart

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.                                                2 Timothy 4:7 (NKJV)

Experience Enhances Endurance

Update 10.29.10

                          Chris Chesley & Billy Price

                                                October 31, 2010
                                    The r12 Journey—Part 6

Learning to Overcome the Evil Aimed at You

While it is not the solution to every instance of anger, forgiveness is the answer to much, if not most, of the anger we experience in life. Unresolved anger leads to bitterness, hostility, and revenge. Forgiveness leads to freedom and reconciliation. No character in the drama of the book of Genesis better illustrates the fundamentals of forgiveness than Joseph--Bob Deffinbaugh
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. 16 Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. 17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. 19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord. 20 Therefore "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head." 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.                                                                                                  Romans 12:14-21 (NKJV)
Who has wounded, betrayed, abused, abandoned, forsaken, forgotten, lied to, or hurt you more than anyone else?
1.  What do I say about this person that reveals I haven’t forgiven?
2.  How do I try to retaliate against this person?
3.  Am I willing to let God take care of it?
4.  How could I use this situation to bring glory to God and defeat evil?
In general, we can say that forgiveness is a conscious decision on the part of the offended party to release the offender from the penalty and guilt of the offense committed. This release not only frees the offender from guilt and punishment, but it also frees the forgiver of anger and bitterness. Forgiveness is not leniency or overlooking sin. --Bob Deffinbaugh

To really live, you have to forgive
