This Wednesday night in the worship center (01.25.12)

We have a very special guest for our Wednesday night service, John Wyatt, our missionary to the prisons and jails of West Virginia and Virginia will be with us.  He will be singing and sharing with us what God is doing through his ministry.   Hope you can join us for this special treat and show support to one of our faithful servants who is reaching out to the forgotten in the prison system.  John sings and plays the 12 string guitar, I am sure you will enjoy his ministry.  Hope to see you tomorrow night at 7 PM

This Sunday  At Faith . . .
ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Join us this Sunday as I continue my series based on the book of Zephaniah.
How could a book that contains one of the most graphic messages of judgement in the Bible also contain one of the most beautiful statements of God's  love for His people.   Believe it or not God's justice and His love are forever linked.  God sets boundaries because He loves us.  Join us this Sunday as we finish this series.

16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: "Do not fear; Zion, let not your hands be weak. 17 The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.Zephaniah 3:16-17 (NKJV)

SUNDAY NIGHT 6 PM

Chris will be sharing the word with us in the Sunday Evening service

We will be presenting the 2011 Financial Report and Installing Barry Calvert as a new Trustee here at Faith
We had a great ministry Sunday at the Brian Center Nursing Home.  We had about 15 residents join us for our service.  We got them clapping for "This is The Day".  I took my flying monkey and he was a big hit.  We are going to purchase some flying monkeys and take to another service, if you would like to help let me know.  Notice the lady dressed in purple in the middle of the photo above, her name is Mrs. Jones and she is part of the reason I am in Covington.  Her son in-law was my pastor and she suggested starting a church in Covington and the rest is history.

    Why is church membership important?

I.       A Biblical Reason:
Christ is committed to the church

“...Christ loved the church, and he gave his life for it.”  Eph. 5:25

II.      A Cultural Reason:
It is an antidote to our society

We live in an age where very few want to be committed to anything...a job...a marriage...our country.  This attitude has even produced a generation of “church shoppers and hoppers”.  Membership swims against the current of America’s “consumer religion.”  It is an unselfish decision.  Commitment always builds character.

III.     A Practical Reason:
It defines who can be counted on
Every team must have a roster.  Every school must have an enrollment.  Every business has a payroll.  Every army has an enlistment.  Even our country takes a census and requires voter registration.  Membership identifies our family.

IV.    A Personal Reason:
         It produces spiritual growth

The New Testament places a major emphasis on the need for Christians to be accountable to each other for spiritual growth.  You cannot be accountable when you’re not committed to any specific church family.

     This Sunday  At Faith . . .
ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Join us this Sunday as I continue my series based on the book of Zephaniah.  This Sunday I will be looking at Responding to God's Justice.
Zephaniah had a very difficult message to deliver to the nation of Judah.  It was one of impending judgement and doom.  But God led Zephaniah not to only target Judah with his message but the entire world.  But in all of this dark news there was a bright light.  God would respond to those who would seek Him.  He would hide them away safely during this terrible day of judgement.  He would provide a door of escape but I must open it.  Do you believe in the justice of God?  Are are you going to escape it?  Join us Sunday as we look at a place of safety for all who will seek the Lord.
Seek the LORD, all you meek of the earth, Who have upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden In the day of the LORD'S anger. Zephaniah 2:3 (NKJV)

This Sunday  At Faith . . . ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Join us this Sunday as I begin a new series based on the book of Zephaniah.  This Sunday I will be looking at God's Justice.
God's justice can be a great motivator or a great intimidator.  We all love to talk about the love of God but when we come to getting the big picture of God we sometimes forget His justice.  He will always to do what is right and just.  He will always do that which is consistent with His nature.  If I am obeying God and His word I have nothing to fear from His justice, He will always do what is right.  How can the justice of God motivate me to live as if my life really does make a difference?

The LORD is righteous in her midst, He will do no unrighteousness. Every morning He brings His justice to light; He never fails, But the unjust knows no shame. Zephaniah 3:5 (NKJV)

In the 6 PM service Chris will be preaching on "Splinters and Logs"

Join us this Sunday as Chris finishes his two-part series preparing us for the brand new year.

"The Results of Relying On The Redeemer"

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)
