In "Basic Training" we are looking at basic truths that we assume everyone understands.  These are important basics of the Christian Faith that we must understand to build our faith upon.  This week we are looking at our Heavenly Father.  Some of us have been disappointed by our earthly fathers but God is a father who will never disappoint, one whom we can rely upon throughout our lives.  Come and learn how the "Heavenly Father" can make a difference in your life

Jeff brought a great message last Sunday night on vision and he used these babies to get his point across, enough said.  He does look a little better in them though?
What a nice surprise we had at church last  Sunday night. Selena Davis our missionary from New Zealand dropped by for a visit. It was so nice to see her and to hear an update of what God is doing in that country. Pray for Pink and Selena and their children as they labor for the Lord in New Zealand

This is my friend Howard Merrell as I see him most Thursday mornings at McDonalds.  Last Sunday he marked a real milestone in his life, he has been pastor at the Covington Bible Church for 40 years.  No small accomplishment when you consider we live in an age of short term pastorates.  I was never able to attend seminary, but I learned as much from Howard as I would any seminary professor.  His advice has been golden and has kept me in the game this long.  What makes a man come to a strange town plant his flag and dig in for the long haul?  Howard would say the grace of God, he would be right but you also have to be willing, thanks for being willing Howard.  Howard serves on various mission boards, travels extensively visiting missionaries in addition to pastoring.  He is the founder of Teenweek as we know it.  Many young men are in the ministry today because of his influence,  May his tribe increase.  Thank you for investing 40 years of your life in the gospel ministry, our area is richer because of it and I know I am.

June 16   "Heavenly Father"
June 23   "Saved"

How would you define the above terms?
Could you explain them if asked?
Join us this Sunday as we begin "Basic Training"

Jeff will be speaking this Sunday night
Sermon Title: A Needed Vision
Scripture: Isaiah 6:1-5
1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. 2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one cried to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!" 4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 So I said: "Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The LORD of hosts."                       Isaiah 6:1-5 (NKJV)
