Morning (9 AM and 10:30 AM)

This Sunday in both morning services we will be honoring all mothers present at Faith.
We have a very special music CD that we are giving to each mom.  Come and help us honor these special ladies.

The morning sermon . . .

Christian Influence     Titus 2:3-5

Join me this Sunday as I look at the importance our impact we can have on others.  On Mother's Day we reflect on the impact of our moms, but influence and impact is not reserved just for moms.

Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored. Titus 2:3-5 (NASB95)

Albert Schweitzer said setting an example is not the main means of influencing another, but the onlymeans.--Discipleship Journal

My example can point people to God

Smallest Church in Wytheville

While in Wytheville I was introduced to an unusual ministry that I was not familiar with, laymen all over America are building the "Smallest Church" in their communities, these are actually outreach vehicles in which people come by and pray and receive Christian literature.  They are open all the time and anyone can come and pray whenever they need to, I read some of the comments in the visitor's book and it was very moving.  Here is a photo of the one in Wytheville

I wonder if we will ever have one in Alleghany County? Hmmmm?   Check out their web site Wytheville's Smallest Church

We have a great opportunity!  We can host the Children of the World choir on Sunday night August 28 here at Faith.  They have been with us several times and every time they have been such a blessing.  Check out their web site Children of the World Webpage

There is a catch.

We need seven families who will act as hosts for these precious children.  They will be with you two nights and you will have to provide some meals.

We need to know this week if we can count on you, if we have adequate lodging it will be a go, if not we will have to let this pass.

Please sign up at the Welcome Center, call or email the church office by next Thursday.

I hope we can do this I always enjoy this ministry.

We all sit in the same pew every Sunday morning.  If we could find someone who would be responsible for each pew, a check mate.  If a regular attender is missing for a couple of weeks give them a call or send them a card, remember their birthday etc.  In other words keep a check on your pew.  We have 37 pews so we would need 37 people in each of the two morning services to become"check-mates".   I am very thankful for those of you who have signed up to be a check mate.  If you would be interested in participating please call Elaine at the church office (962-6335)

 Psalm 121:1-8 (NASB95)
I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to slip; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade on your right hand. The sun will not smite you by day, Nor the moon by night. The LORD will protect you from all evil; He will keep your soul. The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in From this time forth and forever.

Easter Sunday 2011 will not soon be forgotten at Faith.  One man told me, "It was the best service he had ever been in."  We lost power during the music service in the first service and I was forced to preach in the dark using a flashlight.  Because of quick thinking on part of our members, chairs were quickly set up on the front lawn and the second service was held outside.  God blessed and we had two great services with over 400 in attendance.  Even without power the praise team, Jam Kids and Emory sang to the delight of the congregation.  God blessed with beautiful weather and you couldn't have asked for a more perfect setting.  I want to thank everyone who jumped in and helped make Easter 2011 such a special Sunday.

Don't Forget Mother's Day next Sunday, special gift for all moms present at Faith

Hope to see you this Sunday.

Bro. Billy

John 11:21-27 (HCSB)
21 Then Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother wouldn’t have died. 22 Yet even now I know that whatever You ask from God, God will give You.” 23 “Your brother will rise again,” Jesus told her. 24 Martha said, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me, even if he dies, will live. 26 Everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die—ever. Do you believe this?” 27 “Yes, Lord,” she told Him, “I believe You are the Messiah, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.”
