Christmas At Faith

Dec. 1 Mary (mother of Jesus pt. 2)

This is our final sermon in this series and we will take one more look at Mary the mother of  Jesus.  Last week we learned about the will of God from Mary, this week we will see that Mary has a lot to teach us about worship.  One of the most famous hymns in the Bible is the one Mary sang to the Lord rejoicing in Him for choosing her to be the mother of Jesus.

This Sunday Night at 6 pm Jeff has a very special Christmas Communion planned.  It will combine music, scripture reading and the communion service itself to create a great start to our Christmas season at Faith, hope you can join us this Sunday Evening at 6 PM for our Christmas Communion Service.

In spite of the horrible weather, we had a great Thanksgiving service at Faith.  The music from the various churches was great and Howard Merrell brought a great message from Psalm 107,

The Church was alive with activity last week as crews of volunteers descended on the church to decorate for the Christmas season.  A special thanks to all who worked so hard to make the church look so nice. WE love our volunteers!
Various teams visit the Brian Center each month for ministry.  Howard Nicely, Karen Bradberry, Rachel Kimberlin, Angie Kimberlin, Linda Fox and Elaine Price were at the nursing home last Sunday bringing joy to the residents as they sang about the birth of Jesus.
My name is Billy Price and I have been the pastor of Faith Baptist Church for 38 years.  I graduated from Lynchburg Baptist College in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1975.  It is now known as Liberty University.  Upon graduation our little family of three moved to Covington Virginia to begin a new church.  Elaine, my wife; Robbie, my son and myself  started our grand adventure.  I was soon blessed with a daughter, Robin.  People often ask me did I know when I started I would be here 38 years later, I can honestly say no and God hasn't given me a reason leave.  I have enjoyed my ministry in the mountains of Virginia, if it is His will I hope to finish my race here, but that's up to Him.

Nov. 24 Mary (mother of Jesus pt. 1)
Dec. 1 Mary (mother of Jesus pt. 2)

Mary's life would be forever changed, the angel informed her of God's will .  God would send the Savior of the world through this poor village girl.  She was overwhelmed needless to say yet she willingly submitted  to the purpose of God for her life.  We can learn a lot of important principles from Mary about the will of God for our lives.  Join us this Sunday as we explore what God might be teaching us through Mary the mother of Jesus.
This Sunday Night at 6 pm Jeff will be talking about the 5 Keys To Giving Thanks found in Psalm 100. Hope you will plan to join us!

1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100:1-5 (NIV)
Every year several congregations join together in the FPA Thanksgiving service to jointly thank God for His blessings and grace. Join us for an evening of praise and preaching.
Our speaker this year is Howard Merrell pastor of the Covington Bible Church. Howard has served his church for 40 years. He is the founder of TeenWeek, an annual outreach to 100’s of teens in our area. He serves on several mission boards and has seen many young men from his church go into Christian ministry.
An evening of music is planned that will lead you into the place of praise and thanksgiving this Tuesday at 7 PM, Worship Center, Faith Baptist Church, 311 Jackson Drive, Covington VA ( Please note this will take the place of our normal Wednesday service at Faith)

Nov. 17 Mary (sister of Martha)
Nov. 24 Mary (mother of Jesus pt. 1)
Dec. 1 Mary (mother of Jesus pt. 2)

What character in the Bible do we always find at the feet of Jesus?  Mary the sister of Martha.  Mary modeled for us what a follower of Christ looks like and each time we find her in the Bible she teaches us an important lesson about following Jesus.  Join us this Sunday as we learn from a true follower of Christ.

Where are the nine?

This week Jeff will help us prepare for the Thanksgiving season as he looks at a famous passage of scripture dealing with the importance of giving thanks.  In Luke 17 only one leper out of ten chose to return and give thanks to Jesus.  Join us this Sunday night at 6 PM.

11 Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. 12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. 13 And they lifted up their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!" 14 So when He saw them, He said to them, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. 17 So Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? 18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?" 19 And He said to him, "Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well." Luke 17:11-19 (NKJV)
