Communion this Sunday

Follow us on Facebook
Last Sunday night I brought a message on Desire for the next couple of weeks I will continue to look at this subject.( This Sunday, June 15 and June 22 all in morning services).  This week the title of my message is "We Need Help" from Psalm 37.  There are many forces at work to create wrong desires in our heart.  Yet God gives us hope that He can create the right desires in our hearts.

A Psalm of David. Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity.
For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb.
Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heartPsalm 37:1-4

Desires are critical in our lives because desires determine the direction of our lives.  What do you desire?
What is it that you long for more than any other thing?

Jeff Riley will bring a message Sunday night on "Praise the Lord"

"God's Word teaches us clearly we are to praise the Lord. God wants to hear our praise. But what is praise? Do we really understand what is involved in praising the Lord? How does praise effect God? What effect does praise have on us?"-Jeff

To the Chief Musician. To the tune of 'Death of the Son.' A Psalm of David. I will praise You, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works.
I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.        Psalm 9:1-2 (NKJV)

Jeff will also lead us in communion during the Sunday evening service (6 PM)

Got to attend my grandson Luke's graduation in Lynchburg this week.  He was our last kindergarten graduate.
My name is Billy Price and I have been the pastor of Faith Baptist Church for 38 years.  I graduated from Lynchburg Baptist College in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1975.  It is now known as Liberty University.  Upon graduation our little family of three moved to Covington Virginia to begin a new church.  Elaine, my wife; Robbie, my son and myself  started our grand adventure.  I was soon blessed with a daughter, Robin.  People often ask me did I know when I started I would be here 38 years later, I can honestly say no and God hasn't given me a reason leave.  I have enjoyed my ministry in the mountains of Virginia, if it is His will I hope to finish my race here, but that's up to Him.

Graduate Sunday

Follow us on Facebook
Jeff Riley will be speaking this Sunday morning on Graduate Sunday.  He is speaking from the following passage.
13 And they were bringing children to Him so that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked them.
14 But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, "Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
15 "Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all."
16 And He took them in His arms and began blessing them, laying His hands on them. Mark 10:13-16

Hope you can join us this Sunday (9 AM and 10:30 AM)
This Sunday we will recognize our graduates in both morning services (9 AM and 10:30 AM) with a special gift.
This Sunday PM (6 PM) I will be speaking on "What do you want?" from John 5, this is a part of several messages on Desire that I will be bringing over the next several weeks.

Desire = a strong feeling of wanting to have something

"DESIRE REVEALS MY FIRE" is the bottom line for this message

Our desires or lack of desire reveal something important about our spiritual condition.  What drives you each day?
I will bring several AM messages in June on Desire (1, 15, 22) Hope you can join us as we look at this powerful emotion that can drive us to God or away from God.
