     Sunday October 30

This Sunday CSI
I return this Sunday to a sermon series I began in August.  Because of illness I wasn't able to finish the series.  So here is another installment.  To refresh your memory this series is on the critical spirit.  Why do some people seem to always find fault with everything?  Everyone of us could tell our own story of that person in our lives who seems determined to point out every flaw we have, in our first message we talked about some people who seem to have criticism as a way of life.  This Sunday we want to discuss our response to these critics.  Believe it or not we must seek to understand our critics if we hope to respond in a God honoring way.   Our guide on this journey is and Old Testament wall builder who was pursued by critics at one of the most important stages of his life.  Our key thought this week is "Consider the Source".   We will review seven key questions we should ask when ever we find ourselves under the critical eyes of others. Hope you can join us this Sunday.

Jamey Smith will be our special guest this Sunday night at 6 PM.   Jamey is a student at Virginia Tech and is finishing up his education there, this past summer he made a mission trip to Honduras.  He will give our church family an update on his recent trip. Since returning from the trip Jamey feels God is directing him into missions as a life calling.  Please pray for this young man as he heeds the call.  Please attend this Sunday night to encourage this young man in his quest for God.

THANKS
This past Sunday was Pastor Appreciation day and I would like to thank everyone who took part in that special day.  It is always nice to feel appreciated and the pastors at Faith certainly felt it last Sunday.  Thanks for all the cards and other acts of kindness.  Each pastor was given the day off, a free lunch and special flowers for our wives.  Thanks Faith family you are a special group of people.

Trunk or Treat October 29, 6-8 PM

Several times a year we try to reach out to our community to fulfill part of our core mission which is: "connecting people with God".  We hope by getting the unchurched to visit our church campus maybe when a need arises in their life they will return to Faith.  When they find themselves in need they may turn to Faith for spiritual direction.  Each time you get a person to visit you church campus the chance of them returning improves, hundreds usually visit during trunk or treat.  Please pray for this outreach, please volunteer to help, and please give to meet the needs of this outreach.  You can make a difference.  Boxes are in the front lobby for candy, please help if you can.

Sunday October 23

This Sunday is Pastor Appreciation Sunday

Jonathan Windle is our special guest.  He will be speaking in both of the morning services.  Jonathan grew up in Faith Baptist Church, then attended bible college and is now serving as a youth pastor in West Virginia.  I appreciate so much the church family's desrie to honor their pastors.  Chris, John and myself really appreciate the love that is shown us here at Faith.  Thank you for our special day.
There will be no Sunday night service this week.

Mary Kimberlin
Our church has suffered a great loss.  Mary Kimberlin went to be her Lord this week.  Our hearts are saddened to see her go, but we know she is with the Lord she loved.  Please be much in prayer for her family in their time of grief.  Mary was a very special lady.  She was always encouraging to me as her pastor, I will miss her.  She was at church Wednesday night, requested prayer for Pete's sisters who were sick, said hi to everyone and then went home.  Just a few minutes later she was ushered into the presence of God.

FAMILY NIGHT-NICELYS FUNERAL HOME CLIFTON, OCTOBER 21, 6-8 PM
SERVICE-FAITH BAPTIST CHURCH, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2 PM

Where do you begin with Mary?  She was the very embodiment of what a Christian lady should be, kind and compassionate.  She taught little children in Sunday School for over 50 years.  She was deeply loved by her little students and will be deeply missed.  Singing in the choir, visiting each week, cutting clippings out of the paper for proud parents, cooking Sunday dinner for her big family the list just goes on and on.  Married 59 years to her husband Pete and loving all her children and grandchildren so much, quite a lady.

Mary was a godly woman and her children will rise up and call her blessed.  We will miss Mary but we rejoice she is now with the Lord she lived for and loved so much.  Please pray for her family in the days ahead, I know they will truly miss this special lady.

Sunday October 16

"My affection for God is a reflection of my spiritual health"
This Sunday in the morning services I will  examine a true test of where we are spiritually.  What is the greatest test of spirituality, some would say it is duty, doing the right thing.  We might be surprised at what the Lord says to a group of Christians years ago.  It is not what you do but who you are that is the priority.  Are you a person who truly loves God?  It is out of this relationship that God honoring service comes.  We will soon run out of spiritual gas if duty is our prime driving force.  Love for God will propel us to ever greater heights spiritually.

Chris will be speaking on "Power In Persecution" this Sunday night

Haven't sent an update in a few weeks we were in GA and FL on vacation with our grandkids.
While we were in Flordia at Downtown Disney, a sky writer put this message in the sky.  The message communicated in symbols, "You plus God equals a happy life."  I believe this was the biggest gospel tract I had ever seen.  We all have talents we can use for God and I thought it was neat that this pilot was using his skill for God.  Hope to see you Sunday.
