Christmas Day Service, Sunday, December 25       One service at 10:30 am, no Sunday School classes (Nursery and Pre-school classes will be meeting),no evening service.

Come and help us celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.  Once every few years our church family gets the opportunity to see each other on Christmas morning. This is the year!  The praise team will be leading us in worship, Staci Martin has a special song for us and we will be singing Happy Birthday to Jesus on His birthday.  I will be finishing my sermon series, "What God Wants For Christmas"

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:8-11 (NKJV)
Christmas Day I will be finishing the sermon series, "What God Wants For Christmas".  My focus will be the shepherds in the Christmas story.  Despised rejected by main society why did God chose these humble caretakers of sheep to receive the greatest news in the world?  We can learn much from the fact that God chose shepherds to hear the birth announcement.  Our core truth for this message is,"I Matter Because I Matter To God".  God wants me to know that my worth is found in the signifcance and value He has given to me.  As Chris said in his sermon Sunday
  • God loved
  • God gave
  • We believe
  • We receive

One of the most asked questions at this time of the year is "what do you want for Christmas?".  Our thoughts turn to giving and receiving gifts.  Is there something you would really like for Christmas?  There is nothing wrong with hoping for a special gift at Christmas.  What about God?  If we could ask Him, what would He say?  God doesn't want in the sense of need for He is God.  But He could desire something that would bring glory and honor to His name not out of need but out of love and joy.  We would like to explore for the next couple of weeks from the Bible what God might possibly want for Christmas.  Hope you can join us.

In my world. . .

   The Jacob Morse Family

The church voted at our annual budget meeting to begin supporting the Morse family.  Jacob grew up in our area and attended the Covington Bible Church.  Jacob tells us about his ministry . . .

We are a part of Word of Life's Local Church Ministries outreach program in South Korea. The goal of this team is to get into local churches in order to train leaders and give them materials to effectively evangelize and disciple their youth through the Word of God. We will also run evangelistic events in order to reach out to the young people of Korea. Word of Life Korea currently serves through Bible Clubs, Camps, SYME (a discipleship training center call School of Youth Ministries in English), and a new Bible Institute. Our desire is to disciple and train leaders in order to spread the gospel in Korea, as well as to send missionaries into the rest of Asia.

ABOUT JACOB

My name is Jacob, and I trusted Jesus as my Savior at an early age. It was around Christmas time when my pastor explained why people give gifts on Christmas, and he explained how God sent His Son to pay the penalty for my sins so that I might have the free gifts of eternal life. I believe that this was the first time that I understood the gospel and placed my trust in Jesus alone to save me.  When I was eight years old I moved from Massachusetts to Virginia, where I attended a church with Word of Life Student Ministries. God used this church to have a huge impact on my life, especially in regards to my spiritual growth. After attending Word of Life camps in New York, I decided to attend the Word of Life Bible Institute. It was there that God really changed my heart and gave me a burden for the people of Asia. After graduating from the Bible Institute, I was involved in a missionary training program at Word of Life for two years. During that time I completed my distance learning degree from Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science in Religion. My wife and I simply desire to be used by God to impact the lives of young people in South Korea and all over the world.

ABOUT CRYSTAL
My name is Crystal, and I was born into a Christian home. I received Jesus as my personal Savior at the age of four, when my Dad preached a sermon on hell. After his message, I asked my Mom some questions about the gospel, and that day I began my relationship with Jesus Christ.

When I was 13 years old, I realized the need to live my life for Christ and dedicated my life to His service. I attended Word of Life Bible Institute for two years and am working on completing my degree in Religion. I met my husband during Bible School, and we were married on May 17, 2008. Kiera, our first girl, was born on April 29, 2009. Aleya was born on July 8, 2010. I am very excited to be a part of the ministry in South Korea. We are looking forward to seeing how God works through us as we minister to these young people.

Please pray for the Morse family as they leave for Korea in just a few days.  Here is a link to their web site which contains more information on our newest missionary family and how you can stay in touch with them.
