39th Church Anniversary September 7

This Sunday, August 31, all children will be moving up according to their grade level.  If you have questions please contact your present teacher.  Jeff will be there to help during both hours of Sunday School. This Sunday morning I will be speaking from the book of Matthew in the New Testament, as we finish out the sermon series, "Church" 13 Now when Jesus came into the district of Caesarea Philippi, He was asking His disciples, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" 14 And they said, "Some say John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets." 15 He *said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" 16 Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 And Jesus said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 "I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. 19 "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven." 20 Then He warned the disciples that they should tell no one that He was the Christ. Matthew 16:13-20 (NASB)  My sermon is entitled "Jesus Introduces the Church".  We will be looking at some foundational thoughts about the church given to us by Jesus.  This is the first mention of the church in the New Testament.  How did Jesus introduce the church and what did He emphasize? My main point is, "My attitude about the church reveals my attitude about Jesus". The greatest single scandal in evangelical assemblies, and I can really only speak for that, is the low regard individual Christians have for the church. -- Chuck Colson        Sunday night Jeff will finish out the series.    Why Church?    I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the LORD."Psalm 122:1 (NASB) To answer the question why Church, we need to understand what the Church is, how Christ sees the Church, Christ's expectations for the Church, and the benefits of being actively involved in the local Church.

My name is Billy Price and I have been the pastor of Faith Baptist Church for 39 years.  I graduated from Lynchburg Baptist College in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1975.  It is now known as Liberty University.  Upon graduation our little family of three moved to Covington Virginia to begin a new church.  Elaine, my wife; Robbie, my son and myself  started our grand adventure.  I was soon blessed with a daughter, Robin.  People often ask me did I know when I started I would be here 39 years later, I can honestly say no and God hasn't given me a reason leave.  I have enjoyed my ministry in the mountains of Virginia, if it is His will I hope to finish my race here, but that's up to Him.

39th Church Anniversary September 7

This Sunday morning Jeff Riley will be speaking from the New Testament book of Titus (3:3-8). 3 For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. 4 But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, 5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to thehope of eternal life. 8 This is a trustworthy statement; and concerning these things I want you to speak confidently, so that those who have believed God will be careful to engage in good deeds. These things are good and profitable for men. Titus 3:3-8 (NASB) His sermon is entitled I'm Still Amazed The longer we know the greater the danger that we will lose our wonder of Him, Jeff wants us to answer the question: Are you still amazed by Jesus?  This Sunday night I will be speaking on The Ark of  The Covenant from Jeremiah 3:1616 In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land," declares the LORD, "men will no longer say, 'The ark of the covenant of the LORD.' It will never enter their minds or be remembered; it will not be missed, nor will another one be made.                                             Jeremiah 3:16 (NIV)  The ark was the meeting place with God in the Old Testament, how do we meet with God today?
