9 Rise up, you women who are at ease, Hear my voice; You complacent daughters, Give ear to my speech.                                       Isaiah 32:9 (NKJV)

The prophet Isaiah is warning his country about impending disaster when he suddenly addresses the women of the country.  I think it is significant that one of the major prophets felt it important to challenge the women of the country to get involved in the important work of restoring the spiritual foundation of that country.  We will see several important truths from this passage.  Women reflect the moral and spiritual climate of a country.  Women can help shape the moral and spiritual direction of a country.  As we honor or mothers let us not forget the tremendous influence they exert on our families, churches and country.

This Sunday is Mother's Day and we want to say thank you to all the moms present with a special gift.  We also want to give to you the gift of time so you can tell your mom how much you appreciate her and love her, so the evening service is cancelled for this Sunday.

This Sunday we are receiving a special love offering for Caleb Vance who is headed to Turkey this summer for a short term mission trip.  Any funds that come in the designated love offering envelopes will go to his trip fund.

The guy holding the really big fish is none other than our very own drummer Doug Shires, his dad Bud is standing  to his left.  Their boat caught 620 lbs of fish on a fishing trip this week at the Outer Banks.
Jeff is pumped about VBS, he sent me this photo of the first poster up, I hope his excitement is catching.  Go get'em Jeff!

Jamey and Lesley Smith are preparing to leave for Danli, Honduras in the fall as full-time missionaries.  Jamey will be working with water and sanitation and using it as a tool to share the Gospel and minister to the people in the communities they will be working with. Lesley will be helping coordinate the church services and working with the children's ministry.  They are currently at 93% of the recurring giving that they have to raise.  If you have any interest in supporting their ministry you can contact Jamey at 540-968-1275 or jamey.smith@gcmweb.org. Also, if you would like to keep up with their ministry, they have blog at www.jameyandlesley.blogspot.com.
