r.

This Wednesday night in the worship center (01.25.12)

We have a very special guest for our Wednesday night service, John Wyatt, our missionary to the prisons and jails of West Virginia and Virginia will be with us.  He will be singing and sharing with us what God is doing through his ministry.   Hope you can join us for this special treat and show support to one of our faithful servants who is reaching out to the forgotten in the prison system.  John sings and plays the 12 string guitar, I am sure you will enjoy his ministry.  Hope to see you tomorrow night at 7 PM

This Sunday  At Faith . . .
ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Join us this Sunday as I continue my series based on the book of Zephaniah.
How could a book that contains one of the most graphic messages of judgement in the Bible also contain one of the most beautiful statements of God's  love for His people.   Believe it or not God's justice and His love are forever linked.  God sets boundaries because He loves us.  Join us this Sunday as we finish this series.

16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: "Do not fear; Zion, let not your hands be weak. 17 The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.Zephaniah 3:16-17 (NKJV)

SUNDAY NIGHT 6 PM

Chris will be sharing the word with us in the Sunday Evening service

We will be presenting the 2011 Financial Report and Installing Barry Calvert as a new Trustee here at Faith
We had a great ministry Sunday at the Brian Center Nursing Home.  We had about 15 residents join us for our service.  We got them clapping for "This is The Day".  I took my flying monkey and he was a big hit.  We are going to purchase some flying monkeys and take to another service, if you would like to help let me know.  Notice the lady dressed in purple in the middle of the photo above, her name is Mrs. Jones and she is part of the reason I am in Covington.  Her son in-law was my pastor and she suggested starting a church in Covington and the rest is history.

    Why is church membership important?

I.       A Biblical Reason:
Christ is committed to the church

“...Christ loved the church, and he gave his life for it.”  Eph. 5:25

II.      A Cultural Reason:
It is an antidote to our society

We live in an age where very few want to be committed to anything...a job...a marriage...our country.  This attitude has even produced a generation of “church shoppers and hoppers”.  Membership swims against the current of America’s “consumer religion.”  It is an unselfish decision.  Commitment always builds character.

III.     A Practical Reason:
It defines who can be counted on
Every team must have a roster.  Every school must have an enrollment.  Every business has a payroll.  Every army has an enlistment.  Even our country takes a census and requires voter registration.  Membership identifies our family.

IV.    A Personal Reason:
         It produces spiritual growth

The New Testament places a major emphasis on the need for Christians to be accountable to each other for spiritual growth.  You cannot be accountable when you’re not committed to any specific church family.
